Jonagold This juicy, orange-tinted apple has a yellow-green base, blush stripe and a tangy-sweet flavour. It’s excellent for fresh eating, cooking and makes a great pie. Quick History - Introduced in 1968, Jonagold originated in New York and is a cross between Golden Delicious and Jonathan varieties, developed in a New York apple breeding program. Availability - Washington’s warm dry summer and cool fall ensure that the delicate flavour develops fully for September harvest. Produce sellers stock Washington Jonagolds from September through April. |
